We are writing to you to announce the launch of a public consultation on the future arrangements for adult elective orthopaedic services in north central London, running between 13 January 2020 and 6 April 2020.
The five NHS Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) in North Central London (Barnet, Camden, Enfield, Haringey and Islington) in partnership with NHS providers, intend to consult on the future arrangements for adult elective orthopaedic care. Our proposals are to create a single network, overseeing two partnerships of NHS providers, which would result in some changes to where patients have surgery.
As part of the review we undertook a health inequalities and health equalities impact assessment. People who had transitioned, or who were taking hormone treatments related to gender reassignment were one of the groups with whom we were recommended to undertake some targeted engagement, as hormone treatments can impact on bone density and therefore on requirements for orthopaedic services.
We would be very grateful if you could support publicising the consultation through your networks and stakeholders. We would also welcome the opportunity to hear from people who are directly involved in your organisation or who have specific feedback about orthopaedic services and we would be happy to organise a focus group or meeting.
We invite you to provide your views: via any of the routes set out in the consultation document, and to share this letter with any colleagues whom you feel would value the opportunity to share feedback with us.
A full set of consultation documentation is available at https://conversation.northlondonpartners.org.uk.
The consultation outcome will influence the Decision-Making Business Case that will be presented to the North Central London CCG for approval in the summer of 2020 (the exact timing will be subject to the volume and content of the responses).
