GIRES Supports The Joint Statement on the decision to ban puberty blockers for trans youth in the UK
The recent decision to indefinitely ban the private prescription of puberty blockers for trans youth in the UK marks a profoundly troubling development in the ongoing struggle for the rights of trans people and access to necessary, life-saving and evidence-based healthcare.
Every single child and young person should be able to get the care that they need to grow up happy and healthy.
Right now, trans youth are being failed. We demand a future for trans young people where they can access the healthcare they need, without having to wait for years or fear their experiences will be dismissed. Banning gender affirming care will only make trans youth less safe.
