GIRES is pleased to see that the articles feature one of its resources for schools, However, we are somewhat concerned that the Daily Mail article states:
“A Department of Education spokesperson said: ‘Our statutory guidance is clear that young people, whatever their developing sexuality, need to feel that sex and relationships education is relevant to them and sensitive to their needs.’ “
This does not draw the necessary and lawful distinction between gender identity and sexual orientation, and we have advised the DfE accordingly.
