GIRES provides access to e-Learning programmes to assist organisations, friends and families to better understand how to support and work with trans and gender diverse people.

If you require access to our training for your staff please contact us via web@gires.org.uk and we can provide you with access tokens and can invoice your company directly.

Due to the recently announced NHS England changes to access to health care for trans and gender diverse children and young people we have temporally removed access to the following e-Learning so that the content can be updated to reflect these changes:

Gender Diversity Awareness for Employers & Service Providers

GIRES Trans and Gender Diversity Awareness Training for Employers and Service Providers CPD accredited e-learning resource will:

  • Ensure that learners are better informed about trans and gender diversity;
  • Give you a better understanding of the law and good practice in relation to trans and gender diverse people;
  • Provide employers and services providers with the knowledge to meet their legal responsibilities in relation to staff, service users/ clients; and
  • Provide you with the skills and knowledge to deal with trans and gender diverse issues in line with your role.

The training consists of three modules and a test quiz which will take about an hour to complete.:

  • Module 1: An introduction to trans and gender diversity
  • Module 2: Employers and employee’s responsibilities in relation to the law and best practice
  • Module 3: The importance of an inclusive and supportive workplace environment

Please note, that if you would like to have access to the free training for your own personal interest, and not professional development, your progress and completion of sessions will not be recorded and you will not be able to generate a record of completion. Please email web@gires.org.uk stating which training you would like to access and we will send you a link to the Open Access Training. 

If you require evidence of learning and wish to acquire CPD points, please register and pay £10 to access the training.

You will then be sent login details to access the training.  Important information: On successful completion of the test at the end, the information sheet you filled in prior to taking the test will display your results. This will be your certificate. To enable you to print this certificate, you will have to be save as a file on your computer, or screen shot and saved as a PDF, this will then enable the certificate to be printed.

You will not be able to return to your results after leaving the training course.

GIRES Trans and Gender Diversity – Scientific Factors

This CPD accredited e-learning resource provides a brief overview of the biological science relating to trans and gender diversity. The training is in 6 Modules and should take 1.5 hrs to complete. Once you have completed all six modules you will be able to print a certificate of learning which includes the CPD reference details.

  6. Research

Please note, that if you would like to have access to the free training for your own personal interest, and not professional development, your progress and completion of sessions will not be recorded and you will not be able to generate a record of completion. Supporting Gender Diverse People in Post 16 Education

GIRES trans and gender diversity awareness training for learning providers, staff and students in post 16 education e-learning resource has been developed to raise awareness and understanding of the issues faced by trans and gender diverse learners and teachers and other staff, and provide the leaner with the information to respond appropriately when working or studying with trans and gender diverse learners and teachers and other staff.

Further and higher education establishments, as well as governors, management, trades’ unions and students’ unions will benefit from an understanding of the issues faced by trans and gender diverse people; all must share the corporate responsibility to provide them with a safe, inclusive and healthy environment.

The training consists of  six modules each of which will take about 20 mins to complete.:

  • Introduction to gender diversity in further education
  • Learners’ experiences
  • Employees’ experiences
  • Disclosure and privacy
  • Promoting equality
  • Support
