Position and Statements on Hate Crime
From 24th March 2010, crimes committed against people because of their actual or presumed disability, sexual orientation or transgender identity will be classified as aggravated hate crimes and punishable as such under the Offences (Aggravation by Prejudice)(Scotland) Act. This brings these offences into line with existing race and faith hate crime legislation.
