2nd Transgender Council 2008, Berlin, Germany
Dear Ladies & Gents, In-betweens and Gender-benders, friends and allies
to the cause, Transgender Europe and the Transgender Network Berlin (TGNB), invite you to the 2nd Transgender Council - Make human rights work. You would join the diverse bunch of trans activists expected from all over Europe to continue the success
story of the 1st Transgender Council in Vienna 2005. The council welcomes all people, defining themselves as trans, and aligned LGBTIQ, activists and partners - reflecting the colourful and diverse trans family from all over Europe.
We are proud to hold the council under the auspices of the mayor of Schoeneberg, Mr. Band, at his beautiful and historic mayor's hall (Most prominently J.F.Kennedy proclaimed here that he was a Berliner!).
The program consists of plenary sessions, workshops, get-together including the general assembly of TransGender Europe. After the hard work at day-time on human rights issues, trans activism and capacity building, at night Berlin's Tran-friendly scene offers its best: show, music, party, arts and lots of chances for networking.
Be amongst the first ones to hear publicly about the astonishing findings of the first comprehensive study on the living situation of trans people in Europe, (conducted by ILGA, Press for Change and TransGender Europe in 2007) with more than 2000 trans people participating! Discussion of concept and (EU) policy of the solely truly
All-European Transgender network TGEU will be on the agenda as well as
debating with politicians from the European parliament about the human rights situation of trans people. We set up a comprehensive set of workshops on activism, skill-building, best practices and "how to do" to give you a wide choice on how to improve skills and tools in order to make human rights REALLY work!
As the time until the council is running and places are limited, check out www.tgeu.org/council2008 today and register right away! (early bird tariff until 17th of march!). On this website you find the program, admission fee, financial support,
registration and how you can contribute YOUR workshop to the council. Moreover there will be information on accommodation and travel issues. Sign up for e-mail-list in order to receive regularly the last up-to-date information around the council!
If you have any further questions regarding organisational/ technical questions contact us via: council2008@tgeu.org (but only after you have checked out our website!). For questions regarding the contents please use program@tgeu.org.
*The local organising team in Berlin consists of the trans activist groups "TransInterQueer-TrIQ", "Wigstoeckel transgender united", "TIA M" and various individuals from other trans groups that are united in the Transgender Network Berlin TGNB. |
