LGBT Consortium - Annual Meeting and Conference
In response to feedback from members the LBGT Consortium is holding this year's AGM & Annual Conference on a Saturday making it more accessible for volunteers. Also the event has been moved to Birmingham as a central location and to celebrate the opening of the regional office in the West Midlands
The day will begin at 10am and finish at 5pm with an informal drinks reception from 5pm to 7pm providing the opportunity for further networking with other delegates and organisations both nationally and locally.
This year the Consortium is 10 years young so it will be looking to celebrate the work of the LGBT Third Sector that makes up its membership.
The agenda is currently being finalised, therefore there is still time for you to contribute to how the day might look and the workshops that will be provided.
It will be worthwhile for representatives of the trans organisations to attend to ensure that a proper proportion of the Consortium's £700,000 per annum expenditure is allocated to their needs.
If you are interested in presenting, showcasing, running a workshop or facilitating please
IFGE Annual Conference
The event will be held February 4–7, 2009 at the Alexandria Hilton at Mark Center in Alexandria, VA. It is being hosted by the Transgender Education Association (TGE) of Washington DC, in coalition with other groups in the mid Atlantic region. The theme for this year's gathering is: “Working Together for Change.”
This year we are giving priority to the following themes:
• Issues impacting Transgender Youth, and Children of Trans Parents
• Issues impacting Transgender Elders
• Issues and concerns of FTMs (We are reserving a full track for FTMs)
• Issues and concerns of Crossdressers
• Reforming or removing "Gender Identity Disorder" from the DSM
• Transgender Health, Medicine and Legal Concerns
• TGs in Relationships - for Significant Others, Couples & Individuals with or without partners
• Changing the perception of Transgender People through Education.
• Creating unity in the Transgender Community
New ideas, new topics and new faces are also of strong interest. We will be holding special panel discussions for the benefit of students, researchers and educators to learn more about the trans community. (Student registration rates will be available.)

Schools OUT annual conference
The Schools OUT Conference, held on Saturday 7th at The Drill Hall, just off Tottenham Court Road in London.
Schools OUT Conferences are something else. Previous ones have featured Q Boy, Mz Fontaine and Dean Atta. They're vibrant, dynamic and fun, and there's no death by PowerPoint for us. That's because they are on a Saturday and you don't want to give up your Saturday for something that feels like work.
Some of the highlights this year will be:
• Teachers from the No Outsiders Project showing us how they have been using all sorts of books in primary schools that explore LGBT lives including a dvd of the opera written by John Harold and his pupils ‘And Tango Makes 3’,.
• Young people from the LGBT project in Calderdale GALYIC.
• Anti-Bullying and Homophobia Worker (ABC Project) Kate Sicolo from the South West doing both a workshop and sharing with us material she is pioneering in secondary schools.
• Journey Man will be entertaining us - telling us stories.
